Our pastoral team consists of a diverse and dedicated set of individuals that represent the varied experiences, genders, ages, and cultures of our members.
Pastor Raymond Sasa
Pastor Raymond Sasa is the current Sole Pastor of SouthBay SDA Church. He grew up in the Island of American Samoa where he acquired all of his skillsets. He comes from a family of builders; House builder, plumber, electrician, remodeler and now, for the first time, a member of his family being a builder for God’s kingdom. From American Samoa to Hawaii, where he met his better half, Taualoa Sasa, to Seattle where they started a family together with three wonderful boys. He started his family ministry in Seattle by feeding the unsheltered families under a storage parking lot, preaching at different churches, he also was involved in planting of couple of churches, and uses his business, Sasa Construction, as a vehicle to hire the unsheltered ones and train them not only to have a skill set, but most importantly to have a closer walk with Christ. He loves to study, workout, play pickle-ball and golf because he just loves to be with people. He believes in being intentional about building relationship. His favorite scripture comes from the whole chapter of 1 Corinthians 13, “but the greatest of these is love.” This love, (from this chapter) on how your treat others solely comes from how much time you spend with Christ.
Elder Dave Reiner
Dave grew up as a "PK" (preacher’s kid) in the Seventh-Day Adventist faith, his father a minister and Associate Director of Communications for the General Conference. It wasn’t until 2003 when visiting South Bay SDA church that the Holy Spirit infiltrated his mind and heart, and he fully surrendered his life to God. Since that time Dave has participated in Prison Ministry at Donovan State Prison, helped in food distribution, and as 1st Elder has worked to improve God’s house through facilitating solar power installation and security. A retired scientist from UCSD’s Medical School he is now a Guest Researcher at the National Human Genome Research Institute. He’s a devoted husband to Gail, father to 5 "Brady bunch" adult children, and "Baba" (Grandpa) to 10 grandchildren. Dave loves to study and talk about prophecy and his favorite Bible verse is Matthew 24:13... He who endures to the end shall be saved.
Elder Olga Durazo
Drawn to the atmosphere of love, family and vision of "Live to Bless Others", Olga began attending South Bay around 2008. She has served as greeter, deaconess, elder, Pathfinder counselor and Share Him Coordinator, and currently serves as nutrition distribution coordinator and assistant head elder. A prayer warrior at heart, she also oversees and supports the South Bay Prayer Team. Olga has been married 46 years to her high school sweetheart Manuel, from whom she first heard the Sabbath truth and of the SDA Church. She is mother of two, daughter Veronica, and a son Gilbert, grandmother of eight, great-grandmother of two boys, and spiritual "mom" to several. Olga retired from public schools as a Special Ed. Instructional Assistant; Now working full-time for our Lord Jesus. She enjoys reading, gardening, biking and art, however, her greatest joy comes from serving God and blessing others by making a positive impact in their lives, and pointing them to Jesus. Two of her favorite Bible verses are: Proverbs 3:5,6 and Philippians 4:13, because we can trust  in God always and completely, and draw strength from Jesus in and through all circumstances.
Michelle Orozco
Michelle has called South Bay her home church for most of her life, with a few short stints in Illinois and Utah for school and work. Music has been her long time ministry, starting young in childrens’ choirs and beginning music ministry as a song leader at 16. She has supported Health Ministries and is currently the Music Ministry Director with parents who have been active members since their arrival at South Bay in the early ‘80’s.  Michelle is a Health & Wellness Coach by trade and empowers individuals to increase the life in their years through nutrition, exercise, and quitting tobacco. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and miniature pinscher, Cosima, who you might see after drive-in services. Her favorite verse became Hebrews 12:2 after seeing it on a spectators’ sign while running her first half-marathon in 2009.
Ron Garcia
Ron has been attending South Bay Church with his family since he was born in July of 1980! Over the years, he's served in various capacities including deacon, youth leader, and is currently the head of our audio/visual department. South Bay has played a huge role in Ron's life and he even met his wife and the mother of his two kids at South Bay all the way back in 1991--she also happens to be our VBS director. Outside the faith, Ron is a web application developer and a total geek at heart (Team Iron Man). His favorite verse is Romans 8:28 because it reminds us that no matter what happens, God has a plan that He will see through.
John Addenbrooke
John Addenbrooke started attending South Bay Church back in the late 90s when his high school sweetheart (now wife) invited him to visit. He quickly got involved in the youth group and has since been an active member. He is now one of the core members of our worship team where he sings and plays guitar.
